Why make cheese?

Cheese making is fast, simple, and fun. Here’s a few reasons why cheese makers love what they do!

For starters there’s nothing more likely to impress friends or family than being able to serve them delicious homemade cheese. Cheese made by you, with your own hands, in your own kitchen!

Not everybody wants additives and preservatives in their food. As you’re making the cheese yourself, you know exactly what’s in it. Our kits contain citric acid, organic sea salt, vegetarian rennet and nothing else. Just add milk and you’re on your way.

Just like there are no unnecessary ingredients in our kits, you don’t need lots of equipment either. All you need is a pan, milk, and a spoon; we provide butter muslin and a dairy thermometer. Follow a few basic instructions and in around an hour you will have cheese!

Finally, the savings can be astronomical, and in the current climate that’s never a bad thing. The Big Cheese Making Kit costs £22.50. For that you get almost 7 kilograms of cheese! Let’s compare this to cheeses found at your local supermarket:

7kg Halloumi at Tesco: £61.60 (£8.80 per kg)

7kg Mozzarella at Waitrose: £53.20 (£7.60 per kg)

7kg Goats Cheese at Sainsbury’s: £100.80 (£14.40 per kg)

The savings, as you can see, are huge.

These are just a few of the many reasons why you should make cheese! For more information, we’ve added a few blogs below of our wonderful customers making cheese from The Big Cheese Making Kit.

Bye for now.
