It’s not you it’s us!

Hello!

Has it really been four months since we last updated this? No news is good news eh? Well in this case: yes.  No news simply means we’ve been incredibly busy and there hasn’t been enough hours in the day to update you all.

Let’s change that.

We’ve borrowed some more hands and we’re going to make this a regular thing. In future posts, I’d like to look at a variety of things such as the fun you can have making the kits, a bit of cheese history, guest blogs on many varied and wonderful subjects. Actually, if you have anything you’d like us to feature you can let us know at: info@bigcheesemakingkit.com

For now, I’ll give a quick recap of how we’ve been progressing the past few months

Firstly, let’s chat about the Spring Fair 2014 at the NEC in Birmingham. Hello to any new friends we made there! Wasn’t it fantastic? So vibrant, and with a shed load of famous faces (Kirsty Allsopp!) walking among us and giving interesting talks. And to top it off, we discovered that the lovely Edd Kimber – the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2010 – was demonstrating one of our kits to a huge crowd a few stalls away! Here he is with our very own Ailsa:

Just recently we’ve been back to the NEC for the Farm Shop & Deli Show 2014. We had a wonderful time there last year, winning an award for Great New Idea initiative. Go us! This year was just as enjoyable. We participated in the Dragon’s Pantry, where we had to pitch our business to a group of Dragon’s, one of which we were told was TV chef Phil Vickery. Fern’s other half! Exciting! It actually turned out to be this guy:

Exciting squared! Turns out he’s lovely. A lovely man mountain. A lovely man mountain who won Celebrity Masterchef!

It’s been a good few months for meeting winners of cooking shows.

We’ve just had a day at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, at the Gastrofest event held at Summerhall. We were exhibiting in the wonderfully named Dissection Room. The festival itself runs from the 5th–20th of April, and there’s plenty of wondrous things to see for all the family.

The absolute highlight for us was meeting Alexander McColl-Smith who actually bought one of our Kits!  “Number One Cheese Making Kit”…and number one cheesy (and slightly deranged) expression from Ailsa!

So to summarise: things are going swimmingly. It’s been a great time for The Big Cheese Making Kit, and we’re looking forward to sharing with you what the rest of the year holds.

Bye for now.
